Termanan Languages

Centaur

The noble horse-folk of the Termanan plains speak a language almost identical to Middle Elven, leading many to believe a common history. The Centaur have a very limited written alphabet despite the rich oral tradition of their language.

Charduni

Mentioned before in Dwarrow, this is the tongue spoken throughout the Land of Chains. While the colony of Dunahane speaks the same dialect, anyone from the father land will immediately notice the accent. A debased form, Thule (Lit. Transalation: “Thrall”) is taught to the generations of hereditary slaves born in chains. It is thought this language was specifically designed to limit free thought in slaves, having no words to express ideas of individual freedom.

Gammul

Sometimes called “Gnomish” or “Jungle-Common,”, Gammul is spoken through the vast rain forest of the Gamul'Ganjus. More a trade tongue than functional language, Gammul has no written form per se, though some tribes do employ a rich system of pictographs & hieroglyphs. The savage beast-folk no doubt have numerous dialects, to many to list here.

Gnollish

The laughing, howling language of the Gnolls is almost unknown among civilized peoples. It has no written form or apparent history, & only seems to communicate primal, vulgar concepts.

High Elven (*Proficiency in High Elven costs 2 Languages for those not born to it)

The Language of the Forsaken Kingdoms of Eldura-Tre & there Half-Elf Thralls, As “Elven” above, the Forsaken often take a dim view of “lesser” races speaking in their tongue…

Karsian

The language of the dark skinned humans of Termana, the origins of both the language & the humans themselves is somewhat mysterious. Karsian has some distant similarity to Dwarrow, possibly due to ancient conflicts with the Charduni. Spoken both in Greater Karsia, Azale, & in Sunharrow by those unable to master High Elven, Karsian is considered an excellent travel language in Termana.

Steppe-Speak

Spoken by the mighty troll tribes of the Iron Steppes, this language has been proven to be a corrupted form of Dwarrow with Primordial, specifically Sylvan influence. Like most languages of this savage continent, it has no written form beyond pictorial hieroglyphs.
